Small Business Problems: Buying What We Can, When We Can
Running a small business isn’t all clean branding and clever product shots — sometimes, it’s just waiting. Waiting for parts. Waiting for delivery updates. Waiting because we’re not a “priority customer.”
At Young Sandwich Media, we build each UpBoard by hand. But we don’t have the space (or cashflow) to buy 200 screens or computers in bulk and sit on them. We buy what we need, when we need it — because that’s the reality for most small businesses.
The problem? That sometimes puts us at the back of the queue. Suppliers prioritise the big spenders. The ones with standing orders and warehouses. And that means occasionally we get hit with delays that are totally out of our hands.
We’re not complaining — it’s just the reality of building something slowly, sustainably, and without outside investors. No giant warehouse. No full-time staff. Just a shed, a few solid tools, and a growing list of families who trust us to build something that makes their lives easier.
So if your board takes a little longer than expected, know this: it’s not because we’re slow — it’s because we’re small. And proud of it.
Thanks for backing the little guy.
